Government delivers new Grocery Rebate to 11 million low- and modest-income Canadians

Nova Scotia (TimesBureau) Wednesday the Honourable Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance announced that 11 million low- and modest-income Canadians and families will begin receiving their new, one-time Grocery Rebate.
This targeted inflation relief for vulnerable Canadians provides eligible couples with two children up to an extra $467; single Canadians without children up to an extra $234; and seniors with an extra $225, on average. By targeting the Grocery Rebate to the Canadians who need it most, the government is delivering important relief while maintaining Canada’s AAA credit rating and strong track record of fiscal responsibility.
Starting today, Grocery Rebate payments are being delivered to eligible Canadians by direct deposit or cheque through the Canada Revenue Agency.

– The Honourable Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance introduced Budget 2023, the one-time Grocery Rebate is providing new, targeted inflation relief to 11 million low- and modest-income Canadians and families:
A single mother with one child and $30,000 in net income will receive $386.50, in addition to the $821 she will receive this benefit year through the GST Credit.
A single senior with $20,000 in net income will receive $233.50, in addition to the $496 he will receive this benefit year through the GST Credit.
A couple with two children and $35,000 in net income will receive $467, in addition to the $992 they will receive this benefit year through the GST Credit.
Recipients will not need to apply for the Grocery Rebate, which will be delivered along with the July GST Credit payment. To receive the Grocery Rebate, Canadians will need to file their 2021 tax return if they have not already done so.
