Alberta-based Indo-Canadians celebrate India’s 72nd Independence Day
in Edmonton
Hundreds gathered in Council of India societies of edmonton on Aug,15 to celebrate India’s 72nd Independence Day.
Every year, Indians across the globe mark the day on Aug,15 to commemorate their nation’s independence from the United Kingdom in 1947.
The event was organized by Council of India societies. A large crowd, including residents of Edmonton and sorrounding area attended a flag hoisting ceremony at India centre Edmonton. Minister Christina Gray, MLA Rod Loyola, Councillor Moe Banga and members council of India societies raised the Indian national flag.
Ustaad Rahat Fateh Ali khan performed to a packed house on Aug ,12 at the Jack singer concert hall in calgary, presented by Nirvana restaurant in association with Nirvana Entertainment.
Rahat began his concert in traditional Sufi strain with “Allahu” and set the mood for the evening. His exceptional vocal range coupled with his gifted tonal sensibilities and skilled delivery whipped up an absolute treat for music lovers.
